MPlayer 1.0pre8: “NeuTeam strikes back”

Eventually a release! (ok, gentoo users won’t have much to complain given I provide snapshot more or less bi-monthly)

The ebuild is already in the cvs and will appear soonish (wait a couple of hours to be sure the mirrors got in sync)

Have fun reading the news entry when it’s hot.

  1. Thanks,

just synced and I am worrying why emerge -avuD world doesnt offer me to upgrade mplayer. It seems that currently installed 1.0.20060415 is considered as newer than 1.0_pre8. Masking non pre versions solves the problem.

  2. And masking 2006* versions gives me another block.

    Calculating world dependencies –
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy “>=media-video/mplayer-1.0” have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
    – media-video/mplayer-1.0.20060408 (masked by: package.mask)
    – media-video/mplayer-1.0.20060415 (masked by: package.mask)
    – media-video/mplayer-1.0.20060102 (masked by: package.mask)
    – media-video/mplayer-1.0.20060217 (masked by: package.mask)
    – media-video/mplayer-1.0.20060302 (masked by: package.mask)

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
    refer to the Gentoo Handbook.
    (dependency required by “media-video/kmplayer-0.9.2a” [ebuild])

Editing RDEPEND for kmplayer from >=media-video/mplayer-1.0 to >=media-video/mplayer-1.0_pre8 solves the problems.

So I hope, that it compiles without error πŸ™‚

  3. Hi Luca,
could you see into pushing x264-svn no at least a R46 svn snapshot?
    Mplayer 1.0_pre8 needs it.

I can confirm that as of a couple minutes back, current svn version compiles and links fine, as does the new mplayer once this updated x264 lib is installed.
Otherwise mplayer won’t compile in x264 support.

Current x264-svn snapshot within portage is R45 release (see x264’s main header), mplayer 1.0_pre8 needs at least R46 and current svn version is R47 πŸ™‚

  4. I put an updated x264 snapshot now, thanks for the notice.
Once everything is marked stable I’ll remove all the snapshots.
