{"id":3,"date":"2006-09-03T13:40:02","date_gmt":"2006-09-03T13:38:03","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2017-03-07T20:38:35","modified_gmt":"2017-03-07T20:38:35","slug":"normal_clipboard_manager_for_x_kde","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.gentoo.org\/yuval\/2006\/09\/03\/normal_clipboard_manager_for_x_kde\/","title":{"rendered":"Normal Clipboard Manager for X\/KDE?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ok, I hate Klipper.<br \/>\nHere&#8217;s the thing: I really want an X11 clipboard manager that would be exactly the same as Emacs&#8217; kill-ring.<\/p>\n<p>For those who don&#8217;t use Emacs, the kill-ring is basically a clipboard that holds streches of killed text (think: &#8220;cells&#8221; of copied\/cut text).<br \/>\nNow, once you yank (&#8220;paste&#8221;), you can either provide an argument to C-y (so C-u 2 C-y yanks what you killed 2 kills ago), OR, the method I like, is C-y (yank) and then just M-y a few times to find exactly what you want.<\/p>\n<p>If I make no sense: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gnu.org\/software\/emacs\/manual\/html_node\/Kill-Ring.html\">Kill Ring<\/a> &amp; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gnu.org\/software\/emacs\/manual\/html_node\/Earlier-Kills.html\">Earlier Kills<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>So that&#8217;s how I want my clipboard manager to behave.<br \/>\nI&#8217;d C-v and if I don&#8217;t like the text the clipboard manager just barfed, I&#8217;ll hit M-v (actually using C-y and M-y, like in Emacs, would be cooler) again and again until I find what I want.<br \/>\nor C-u 10 C-v (again, C-y would be cooler) to go back 10 &#8220;copies&#8221; ago, and paste just that.<\/p>\n<p>Any ideas?
