There has been a lot of noise lately about the fact that xorg-x11-7.1 was put into ~arch before nvidia and ati drivers have versions that work with it.<\/p>\n
I don’t think any open source project should be forced to hold back their development simply because some hardware company refuses to release open source drivers or at least specifications.<\/p>\n
If you need binary drivers and are running ~arch, simply mask the new xorg until ati and\/or nvidia get off their asses and catch up. In case you don’t know how to mask it (though you really should if you are going to be running ~arch) simply put the following in \/etc\/portage\/package.mask<\/p>\n
