About

I received a B.Sc. from Brock Univserity in 1986, a M.Sc. from The University of Guelph in 1988 and a Ph.D. in Theoretical Solid State Physics from Cornell in 1991. I then took a position as a postdoctoral fellow in Chemistry at McMaster University in 1992 before coming to D’Youville College in 1995, where I have been ever since.  In 2001,  we started the Information Technology Program here,  and I have been directing it ever since.  My early work at Guelph and Cornell concentrated on developing new numerical methods for solving quantum mechanics problems arising from issues in solid state Physics. At McMaster, I continued developing numerical methods but shifted from solid state to related problems in molecular collisions in Chemistry.

With my years of pushing numerical methods to the limits of cpu capabilities, I bring a different perspective to the world of Computer technologies.  My current interests concentrate on developing high security Operating System environments which are resistant to various penetration and forensic techniques.  I have been a Gentoo developer since 2010 and contributed for some years before.
