It occurs to me that I lead a very dull life.

My daily routine is something like: Play Ultima Online.........

Being dull is okay, assuming you can deal with it emotionally (some just can't). It's when your significant other finds you dull that it becomes a problem! From what it seems, this isn't the case, so you're probably in the clear.

Also, there's plenty to learn about photography, for example, without spending a cent. Got a (public) library nearby (yes, they still exist)? I'm sure you have lots of theory reading to do...
